An international Resort with a water front beautiful scenery located
in Ningbo, China.
Intro
Last year, I had the pleasure of designing a resort near Ningbo
University, a project close to my heart. Nestled along the waterfront,
the site's scenic beauty inspired careful consideration in the
design process. The focal point is a main building housing regular
guest bedrooms, including both single and double-bed accommodations,
alongside the addition of ten charming individual villas.
Technical Drawings
The primary focus of this design was optimizing sunlight exposure and
lake views for guest bedrooms and villas while ensuring efficient
circulation. Achieving an effective solution involved multiple
adjustments to the site's form. Initial steps included marking
entrances, creating open spaces in the middle for external functions,
and strategically rotating building levels to introduce diversity,
later utilized for rooftop gardens in the villas.
To enhance lake views, a combination of terraces and balconies was
employed, providing depth and panoramic perspectives. The design also
incorporated diverse materials for contrast and visual appeal.
Additionally, a thoughtful selection of plants and trees contributed
to a natural ambiance, fostering both a sense of privacy and
environmental harmony.
Technology
Creating a good circulation system is essential for any site design.
By using a combination of pathways, stairs, and ramps, I was able to
create a sense of flow and provide easy access to the different areas
of the site. Pathways are the most common form of circulation, and
they provide a direct route from one area to another. Stairs are a
great way to add vertical circulation, allowing people to move between
different levels of the site. Ramps are also a great way to provide
access to areas that may not be accessible by stairs.
Aesthetics
In addition to the pathways, stairs, and ramps, I also used a variety
of materials to create a sense of contrast and to add visual interest
to the design. For example, I used different colours of stone and
brick to create a patterned effect, and I used different textures of
wood and metal to create a more dynamic look. I also used plants and
other natural elements to create a sense of harmony and to add a touch
of nature to the design.
